SafaScan is a halal ingredient scanner built for everyday shopping rather than for research. Point the camera at a barcode and SafaScan resolves the product's ingredient statement, traces the questionable components back to their likely source, and returns a clear verdict: halal, haram, or mushbooh. Each verdict comes with the reasoning behind it, so you are never asked to trust a green checkmark you cannot interrogate.
Most halal uncertainty in a modern supermarket comes from a small set of recurring ingredients — gelatin, mono- and diglycerides, L-cysteine, carmine, natural flavours, enzymes, and alcohol-based extracts. SafaScan tracks these directly, flags them when the source is unclear, and explains which scholarly positions treat them differently. Where certification information exists, it is shown alongside the verdict.
